Ok so like I read this thing and it was all “no flowers bloom all year round and neither should you” or something encouraging to that extent. But it made me think:
Yes, no flowers bloom all year round, but instead what we do is we build a GARDEN that does. Sure, your peonies don’t bloom all year round but maybe when they slow down your marigolds will fill your garden with joy. In the same way, maybe some weeks you can’t bring yourself to get out and exercise, or get up super early, but maybe you can take 10 minutes to play guitar, and sing, and give yourself some joy. Just because one part of your life is dormant, doesn’t mean you can’t be growing in another.
You CAN bloom all year round, just in different ways. You aren’t a single flower, blossoming and dying with the seasons, you are a moving, changing, intricate garden, and every day that you go out and water your flowers, and pick some weeds, you are maintaining yourself for all four seasons, not just the sunny ones.
But please consider also that there is beauty in greens- that there are succulents and ivy and ferns and trees taller than skyscrapers. That bamboo may not flower, but it is still a symbol of strength and that even though willows weep they still survive pollution.
Beauty can be found where no flowers bloom. In the desert and in the smog, and maybe if we can still find life at the bottom of the ocean- maybe we can survive this, too.
