I like when a fantasy story goes the extra mile to flesh out a world instead of just slapping on magic and different races and calling it a day.

Like, “there’s fantasy world wrestling” vs “there’s fantasy world wrestling and there are different leagues for each race/weight. Recently as a promotional stunt they had the lightest dwarf against the heaviest elf fighter. Was a fight for the ages!”

It’s not just that there are trolls at every bridge in the city, but that the trolls have unionized and oversee the maintenance and repair of their bridges. They take great pride in them and pass toll booths down through generations.

Unicorns were once super rare, but then breeders domesticated some and keep large herds now. Wild unicorn populations are protected and there’s heavy regulations on the unicorn trade, so you can trace exactly where each came from and what the breeding was.

Not just slapping a giant in the back of a bar scene, of explaining that there is a large door at the back made for deliveries and giant patrons. (and guests that grow to giant proportions while in the establishment) Legally only 1 giant, or 2 half giants, are allowed at a time.

Not just having the Elf district and the Orc district, but having mixed neighborhoods of races based on class and background. Yes there still are “Little Orc York” and such, but there’s also mixed couples, clans of various races, and guilds of all shapes and sizes.
