So apparently Scarlett Johansson’s response to the controversy over her playing a trans character was “Tell them that they can be directed to Jeffrey Tambor, Jared Leto, and Felicity Huffman’s reps for comment.”
Which I mean, wow, okay – fuck you. But also, really? You’re aligning yourself with them?
Jared Leto’s character in the Dallas Buyer’s Club was a dated offensive stereotype who was called he throughout the movie, Felicity Huffman only got the role in Transamerica because a trans woman who had been cast in the part was fired for not being enough of a draw, and Jeffrey Tambor literally just got fired for sexually harassing two trans woman on set so…really? That’s who you’re going with? That’s your defense? “They’re assholes so why can’t I be?”
Not to mention….. we been mad at them too. It’s not a case of “you werent upset about them so why are you upset at me” like shes making it out to be. Trans people have always been vocal about this.
