more and more, i’m seeing posts reblogged on my dash where the OP for them is a thinly veiled terf / general trans exclusionist / transphobic. it’s frustrating, cus checking the source for any length of time shows what they believe in, but ppl just… aren’t checking or noticing. this is bad. terfs are learning from the alt-right
the posts themselves can sometimes have points that are “good”, but remember that this is a tactic terfs use to try and redpill ppl into their idealology – by saying blanket, easily agreeable statements (ex. violence against women is bad) and using that to be like. “see? we don’t think so different after all :)”.
so, it’s important to note that this is part of the same recruitment tactic the alt-right uses, and it’s very insidious. terfs have also starting using different names for themselves / trying to distance themselves from the terf label to try and sneak under the radar (to again draw parallels to the alt-right, how they hate being called nazis, or neo-nazis, or anything related to nazis, b/c they know that there’s no way they can undo negative attachment to that word, and they want to infiltrate and recruit you)
some examples of words & phrases to watch out for, if you’re unsure: wgtow (women going their own way), which i found just now, and “women and males”. i’m sure there’s more so please rb and add them if you can
