but to be very blunt and very serious – it really is disturbing how you can look at fashion magazine spreads, teen magazine spreads and other media depicting teen girl trends/fashion and see how girls dressed in the 90′s, early – mid 2000′s compared to now.
i mean 1998 – 1999
2002
2003
jump ahead to 2008
vs depictions of teenagers in media / teen fashion and teen trends of the last few years (2015-2018)
and people always say “if you look at teenage girls and see sexualization, then you’re the pervert” but .. i just don’t get that line of reasoning. how can you be so naive to look at how media, modeling companies, clothing companies, etc are treating teenage girls ( some of which aren’t even teenagers – but as young as 10,11, 12 years old ) and say “nope, nothing to see here 🙂 but if you call out the problem then YOU’RE the creep” instead of acknowledging that aforementioned companies are blatantly and intentionally producing clothing that is more and more revealing, less and less age appropriate, portraying girls in more sexualized ways as years go on, peddling these themes through social media, televised media, advertising, etc. i mean, that’s the same line of reasoning of “if you look at this picture of barack and michelle obama depicted as monkeys as being racist -then you’re actually the racist one for thinking that black people are monkeys!” when the artist of the photo is the one who blatantly and obviously was being racist.
Lol have you seen Instagram?

I’ve personally known girls (underage) who actually post what would considered child porn (partially or near fully nude/provocative poses) pictures of themselves while hoards of “feminists”, minor AND adult, cheered them on. I’ve watched the same girls continue to post sexually suggestive photos while their peers/fans encouraged them and adult men made sexually explicit comments under the pictures. I usually cant tell the difference between teen and adult women anymore, especially on Instagram. And it keeps getting worse. Attention, sex appeal, a huge following and validation is everything right now. That’s all that matters and if you dare call out what’s wrong with how teenage girls are being advertised as sex objects, you’re degrading and “slut shaming” them. I just want kids to be able to be kids and seeing my 13 year old cousin snap chatting her full face of makeup is disturbing enough
when i say pedophile culture this is exactly what im referring to, its sick and twisted. theyre children that look like adults and under no circumstance should that be okay. i have so much fear for this generation of girls and im scared sick of how its going to just keep getting worse.
Man, when I was like 16 I got so sick of being made fun of for being the fat kid that I took an axe down inna woods, chopped down a tree, and started doing log-lifts all the time. I got strong as fuck, but I didn’t lose no weight. I actually got bigger.
Same thing happened when I got into fighting. I got even stronger, and I got *fast*, man, and nimble, like a cat. Still chubby.
Body-building culture is a bunch of crap, my dude. Functional muscle is not necessarily toned or lean. You can be swole as hell and still be heavy. And that’s cool.
Embrace your inner barbarian. And when fatphobic little gym twinks try to body shame you, you should DESTROY THEM with your MIGHTY AXE
Can comfirm, i am Quite Fat ™ but i still hit my punching bag hard enough last week make it touch the ceiling and broke a finger in the process
You know, I train with (martial arts) a bunch of dudes, and a few bodybuilders have showed up over the years.
And every damn one of those huge shredded motherfuckers has the endurance of a fucking newborn puppy. Fifteen minutes into warmups and they’re panting for air like like they’re about to die. I’ve sparred them and every one of them telegraphs their moves about two weeks in advance, and are slower than my dead grandpa because their huge useless muscles get in the damn way.
Now. I also work with a couple of guys who are not weightlifters. They do, however, do very physical jobs and are Big Dudes. Picture this sort of build.
No abs to speak of, a bit of a tummy, and those motherfuckers can pick up one of the weightlifters and throw them.
And they’re fast. Like, unfair fast.
Bodybuilding culture is bullshit. Embrace your status as a giant barbarian and if anyone gives you crap throw them off a mountain.
This is true for all humans, too!
At my heaviest (well over 300lbs) I still ran an 11 minute mile (pre-disability). And even when I was at my most active, and training intensely, I was never hardbodied despite working out full time. Functional muscle for me looks like horse legs and a big muscular butt with a soft tummy and big arms.
I’m built like a Celtic Warrior Goddess and I will never have a flat tummy and toned arms and that is fine by me because I could snap a grown man in half.
Yes!
Have you seen olympic powerlifters?
This is Sarah Robles, on the USA Olympic Powerlifting team.
Skinny? No. Could pick me up with one arm? Absofuckinglutely.
Sarah Robles was once in an auto accident. She braced her arms against the steering wheel & by main force held it back from smashing her in the chest.
She fought her car & she won.
wHAT
Holy shit I love her even more.
That would shatter my arms like glass.
So here’s the thing: in order to have muscle definition, you need to have approx. 0 body fat. Aaand 0% body fat is wildly unhealthy. A healthy percentage of body fat lies between 10-20% for men, and 20-30% for women.
On top of that, men and women carry their fat differently – for girls it’s on the “outside” (boobs, butt, thighs, tummy, arms), while boys generally store their fat between their organs. So for men, it’s somewhat easier to have muscle definition than it is for women. I’ve been a gymnast for 23 years, I am most definitely stronger than most men, but the only time I ever had a visible six-pack was after I’d come down with appendicitis and lost 8 kg and basically all of my body fat. And together with that body fat I also lost a good chunk of my endurance. Because the issue is you need body fat to keep up your muscles. It’s muscle food.
Obviously, your build comes into play here as well. Some people are naturally lean and sinewy but still strong as hell (my best friend’s father was the skinniest man you ever saw but he could carry three times his body weight across long treks by foot with ease); some are giant barbarians (which is a very sexy build to have, definitely). Strength and muscle definition are two entirely different things.
Keep up your body fat! Be strong!
PS. Someone above said “no abs to speak of” in relation to strong men with physical jobs, and I’d like to point out that just because you don’t have a showing six-pack, it doesn’t mean you don’t have abs. I can kill a man with my core/abs (again, gymnast), but you wouldn’t really know looking at me.
As a short and very squishy looking womany person, who does full contact martial arts four times a week –an Okinawan style Karate (Shorin-ryu Seibukan)– I agree with everything above.
remember when you were a kid and you’d be reading history books or something and you’d see that someone was born in the 1890s and they seemed EXTRA OLD because they were born in the 1800s, and they were born at the very end of the 1800s but it still made them seem that much more ancient. like you could see someone born on december 31, 1899 and to you they seemed older than they would’ve if they had been born january 1, 1900
anyways today i was at my baby cousin’s house and he’s like 4 years old, and he asked when my birthday was and i said september 13, 1995 and he was like “wow you’re old” and i said i was only 22 and he said “but…1995. that’s OLD!!” and god…. i was born in the 1900s and the generation of kids who find that inherently old are being born. i knew it would happen but god it was a weird feeling.
but this also happens with us too…if you are a “1900’s kid” and someone says that they were born in the 2000’s its like….what do you mean that you are 15? You are five years old.
TRUE!!! like whenever someone says shit like “hello, i was born in the year 2000 and i’m 18 years old” it’s like nah you’re two. you’re two years old. you may only be about four years younger than me, but you are two.
listen we all know time stopped working properly in about 2007, and may have stopped moving at all somewhere between 2012-2014
it’s still so wild to me that john mulaney is only 35 years old because whenever he tells stories about his childhood i can’t help but picture him in like the 1960s playing baseball and going to the malt shop and saying things like “why i oughta”
A friendly fox in Pripyat, Chernobyl exclusion zone
*happy cheerful music as fox plays in deserted nuclear radiation land*
This is the aesthetic
Fun facts about the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone:
1) Most of it is pretty safe, even for long periods of time. In fact about 200 native people still live there, but no new settlement is allowed, so that number has declined from about 1200 after the zone was created in 1986.
2)The zone has become an unintentional animal reserve. Its ~1000 square miles of uninhabited forest. Poaching happens, but not to the degree one might expect due to the fear of radiation. Also as a consequence there are lots of human friendly animals like this fox. Most of the humans they do see are tourists that regularly feed them.
3) Its one big science experiment on post human occupation, environmental contamination, and radioactive degradation. Weve actually learned a hell of a lot about what would happen to a city after everyone leaves and how nature takes back over thanks to the city of Pripyat. And how the environment adapts to sudden changes and evolves. A fungus was desvovered in and around the Chernobyl Disaster Site that creates chemical energy out gamma radiation emitted from the melted down core. Something biologists had only theorized as even possible a few years ago, and heres this fungus feeding on it. Its crazy man!
^^ i was literally thinking about if nature and wild life had taken back over the area
Using unwholesome language to keep your show wholesome
