I’m tired of girls trying to invalidate their own feelings during times of pain, especially to their friends. Your break up meant something. That friendship you lost was a hard blow. I understand why you feel tired this semester. Sometimes this “modern woman” stereotype is patriarchy’s last attempt; patriarchy disguised as feminism. You don’t have to be “wise beyond your years”; your pain and crying does not mean you are not intelligent. If you feel your friends demand justification for your pain and ordeals, they’re not friends. You’re strong but human. Remind yourself emotional space is part of liberation.

A giant, black, sarcophagus has been found in Alexandria and I could not be more excited about it.

image

If we do open it we could find

  • The tomb of Alexander the Great (Coolest possible answer. Probably the coolest thing we’ve found in my lifetime unless aliens decide to show up.)
  • Rando important Egyptian Pharaoh ( Also cool answer. Definitely an awesome find.)
  • An ancient and unspeakable evil (We haven’t had a good ol’ doomsday level curse in a good long while. Definitely overdue for this one)

It’s a win/win/win scenario.

A few things

  • Egyptian Archaeologists are planning on opening it, and are saying it’s very unlikely to be Alexander the Great. However, them finding such an old sarcophagus does suggest that we still might find it within our lifetime!
  • I should not have put Pharaoh, as it is equally unlikely to be a king. However it’s almost certainly a high ranking member of nobility or some other highly important and rich figure from the Ptolemaic period
  • the combination of the popularity of this post, my username containing “lesbian”, and possible the fact that the phrase “giant black” was used means im getting a shit ton of pornbots on this post.
  • ancient unspeakable evil is still on the table

WORKING CLASS SOLIDARITY

My dad told me recently that the most important public health workers are garbage collectors and janitors. So much of our health relies on a clean environment. These people do some of the most important work in society. If we learned in dirty public environments full of garbage, we’d all be sick. I cannot thank these people enough for the valuable work that they do.

Shout out to all garbage collectors, janitors and housekeepers!

You know, I’ve tried writing material where the number of bisexual and gay characters present matches up with real-world demographics, but even that’s apparently enough to get folks passive-aggressively going “wow, is anyone in this setting straight?”, so basically my answer from now on is “no, not a single person in this setting is straight”.

When a room has 30% women in it, men think it’s 50-50. When it is 50-50, they think they’re outnumbered. Just one of the fascinating statistics on how people perceive gender balance, says Laura Bates.

…When a story has 5-10% not-straight people in it, a lot of straight people think “the gays are taking over.”
