I know these kind of posts can get annoying to some of you but right now this is really serious. My mom has been living with my father for more than 20 years ever since she left her poor situation to live with him. Ever since then she didn’t get a job and the only money she has is this very small heritage from her father that is currently on lock.
My mom has been trying to get a divorce for as long as I’ve been alive but my dad is a lawyer and of course he knows she’s terrified of being alone and poor again. My dad is very manipulative and often use his lawyer friends to scare her by saying she’d end up penniless if she left the house. I know that is not true, but turns out that she doesn’t have money to hire a lawyer of her own. Eventually she gave up.
This is very hard for me to share but two days ago my dad yelled and hit my mom and left a huge mark on her leg. I woke up to his yelling and when i left my room my dad was leaving and my mom was left crying. She is very depressed right now and hardly even leave the room.
She herself asked me to make this post so she could get enough money to hire a lawyer full time. I instructed her to not talk anything about this to my dad and move out to a friends house while getting better instructions from her lawyer. I’m scared that if she stays in she will either get physically abused or give up.
If you can donate, please donate to my paypal @ claudiarguimaraes@ied.edu
If you can’t donate, please boost!!
Thanks everyone for helping out! Ive been showing it to my mom and she’s truly happy. So far I’ve reached nearly 1/3 of what my mom needs. If this keeps up we might be able to reach out for a good lawyer to do the process within a week. Keep boosting!
Please also be mad at director Rupert Sanders, the cis white dude directing Rub and Tug and who directed ScarJo in whitewashed Ghost in the Shell.
Please, be mad at them both.
This is the same asshole who slept with Kristen Stewart and then gets to call it “an exciting mistake” while she was crucified for cheating on her boyfriend. Blecccccch.
Friday, July 6th: Hi, I’m Gemma and I’m so sorry to ask this again but, would anyone be able to send me a few £’s so I can get groceries + supplies for next few weeks?
This is a continuation from my benefit sanction post (please click to read about my situation), as I still desperately need help and due to a donation charge-back, I’m now back in the red and can’t even afford to eat this month or get basic supplies, and I really need help to get these essentials as I have skipped on eating for the past few days in a row now to try and make ends meet and it has taken such a toll on me that earlier today I was diagnosed with a folic acid deficiency, due to lack of nutrition. I have been prescribed medication to help (I can show this) so I really need your help to get by. I need at least £90 to help get me out of the red and to cover me for some upcoming bills + groceries.
If anyone could spare any amount to help me, even if it’s just £1/$1/€1, it would literally save my life and, sharing definitely helps just as much as donations. Nobody has to donate if they can’t or don’t want to, I know we’re all struggling. Thank you for your help 💖
Please consider helping out guys if you possibly can, if anyone can spare anything at all to help me get food for at least today it would really mean a lot, sharing is also very much appreciated, thank you 🙏💖
I’m all for fighting for marriage equality in the LGBT community. But we’re so focused on that no one knows about this problem.
W…wait Thats a thing????
Yep! The man I refer to as my husband? We aren’t actually married. We can’t be.
If I married him, the government would literally expect me to care for him and be his sole source of income. He would lose all of his benefits, including SSDI. Spouses are expected to share income and that effects ALL of his benefits, even his health insurance. We simply can’t afford to be married.
But it goes even further than that. If I were disabled, our incomes would STILL be combined, meaning BOTH of us would have our benefits cut.
For people reviving supplemental income, their benefits can be cut anywhere from 25% of their current income all the way down to 0%
In fact, one of the stipulations of receiving income under the adult disabled child program (which provides benefits for people who were disabled before age 22) is that they LITERALLY never be married.
I normally don’t link to blog posts as resources, but since social service resource sites like to dress this problem up and make it seem smaller than it really is, I’m gonna call it appropriate! Check it out!

A lot of the time when people give advice intended to relieve anxiety, they suggest doing “relaxing” things like drawing, painting, knitting, taking a bubble bath, coloring in one of those zen coloring books, or watching glitter settle to the bottom of a jar.
This advice is always well-intentioned, and I’m not here to diss people who either give it or who benefit from it. But it has never, ever done shit for me, and this is because it goes about resolving anxiety in the completely wrong way.
THE WORST THING YOU CAN DO when suffering from anxiety is to do a “relaxing” thing that just enables your mind to dwell and obsess more on the thing that’s bothering you. You need to ESCAPE from the dwelling and the obsession in order to experience relief.
You can drive to a quiet farm, drive to the beach, drive to a park, or anywhere else, but as someone who has tried it all many, many times, trust me–it’s a waste of gas. You will just end up still sad and stressed, only with sand on your butt. You can’t physically escape your sadness. Your sadness is inside of you. To escape, you need to give your brain something to play with for a while until you can approach the issue with a healthier frame of mind.
People who have anxiety do not need more time to contemplate, because we will use it to contemplate how much we suck.
In fact, you could say that’s what anxiety is–hyper-contemplating. When we let our minds run free, they run straight into the thorn bushes. Our minds are already running, and they need to be controlled. They need to be given something to do, or they’ll destroy everything, just like an overactive husky dog ripping up all the furniture.
Therefore, I present to you:
THINGS YOU SHOULD NOT DO WHEN ANXIOUS
–Go on a walk
–Watch a sunset, watch fish in an aquarium, watch glitter, etc.
–Go anywhere where the main activity is sitting and watching
–Draw, color, do anything that occupies the hands and not the mind
–Do yoga, jog, go fishing, or anything that lets you mentally drift
–Do literally ANYTHING that gives you great amounts of mental space to obsess and dwell on things.
THINGS YOU SHOULD DO WHEN ANXIOUS:
–Do a crossword puzzle, Sudoku, or any other mind teaser game. Crosswords are the best.
–Write something. It doesn’t have to be a masterpiece. Write the Top 10 Best Restaurants in My City. Rank celebrities according to Best Smile. Write some dumb Legolas fanfiction and rip it up when you’re done. It’s not for publication, it’s a relief exercise that only you will see.
–Read something, watch TV, or watch a movie–as long as it’s engrossing. Don’t watch anything which you can run as background noise (like, off the top of my head, Say Yes to The Dress.) As weird as it seems, American Horror Story actually helps me a lot, because it sucks me in.
–Masturbate. Yes, I’m serious. Your mind has to concentrate on the mini-movie it’s running. It can’t run Sexy Titillating Things and All The Things That are Bothering Me at the same time. (…I hope. If it can, then…ignore this one.)
–Do math problems—literally, google “algebra problems worksheet” and solve them. If you haven’t done math since 7th grade this will really help you. I don’t mean with math, I mean with the anxiety.
–Play a game or a sport with someone that requires great mental concentration. Working with 5 people to get a ball over a net is a challenge which will require your brain to turn off the Sadness Channel.
–Play a video game, as long as it’s not something like candy crush or Tetris that’s mindless.
THINGS YOU SHOULD DO DURING PANIC ATTACKS ESPECIALLY:
–List the capitals of all the U.S. states
–List the capitals of all the European countries
–List all the shapes you can see. Or all the colors.
–List all the blonde celebrities you can think of.
–Pull up a random block of text and count all the As in it, or Es or whatever.
Now obviously, I am not a doctor. I am just an anxious person who has tried almost everything to help myself. I’ve finally realized that the stuff people recommend never works because this is a disorder that thrives on free time and free mental space. When I do the stuff I listed above, I can breathe again. And I hope it helps someone here too.
(Now this shouldn’t have to be said but if the “do nots” work for you then by all means do them. They’ve just never worked for me.)
This would’ve been great an hour ago
If your anxiety includes rapid heartbeat for no reason then it may help to exercise! It helps for me because I’m focused on whatever moves I’m doing and breathing, and it gives my heart rate a reason to be that high so that I can start the slow cooking down process and (hopefully) bring that heart rate down with it. Look up a quick cardio workout on YouTube or something and just do it in your room!
This is so, SO true.
All ‘doing something relaxing’ ever did for me was give my brain MORE free time to FREAK THE FUCK OUT.
i remember the night trump was elected i drove 30 miles straight to my parents house and cried for like four hours because it really felt like the beginning of the end. and my parents, who made it through plenty of shithole republican presidencies, tried to assure me this is why we have checks and balances.
but like. bitch, we don’t anymore. the senate and the house are supposed to be a check. the president is supposed to be a check. the justices are supposed to be a check. but now rather than keeping each other in equal balance, the republican senate has changed the rules to allow this shit.
it feels dramatic but our democracy is honestly in danger. we’ve got a president openly admitting that he wishes his people would stand up and listen to everything he says in the same way north koreans are forced to. like. the GOP will TRY TO TAKE YOUR VOTE. they already actively strive to make it difficult for marginalized voters and are often very successful.
please please please please please. we all like to gripe about big dumb america but you don’t want to live in a world where you don’t get to gripe without fear of persecution. VOTE. WE NEED TO FLIP THE SENATE AND THE HOUSE OR WE RISK EVERYTHING. WE COULD LOSE ANOTHER JUSTICE. WE COULD LOSE THE ABILITY TO BLOCK TRUMP’S RACIST, FACIST POLICIES.
