men are allowed to be so mediocre it’s insulting on the deepest level

Would you unfollow me if I reblogged this every single day? That is how often I think it.

Mediocre men get to make mediocre movies and write mediocre books about other mediocre men, but if a woman steps outside a door in a sweater and some plain jeans, she “let her self go”, “isnt even trying anymore!”

if a man creates something mediocre it’s just “a bad book” or “a bad movie”.. if a man is a bad leader he’s just, well, “a bad leader”

if a woman creates something mediocre, or if a woman’s a bad leader it becomes about how “all women are bad at _____,” or about how “no woman is a natural leader”

and that’s a really disheartening fact to all women. men are always allowed to be a work in progress. women always have to be the flawless finished product.

men are always allowed to be a work in progress. women always have to be the flawless finished product.

Can We Get a Round of APPLAUSE for Pearl???

frost-guardian:

Welp, I can throw out this theory, and this one, and this one too.  I got a little warmer with this one.  I entertained the idea that Rose was in fact Pink herself, but THAT WHOLE SET UP???? WOOOOOW!

But this recent mini bomb just flipped everything I felt about Pearl on it’s head?? I mean, I feel like I need to go back and rewatch the entire series just to watch it from the perspective of Pearl!  Can you imagine what she’s been going through?  For MILLENNIA?!?

  • She had so much love and loyalty to her Diamond
  • The fact she even had to PRETEND to shatter the literal center of her universe had to have killed her inside
  • she gave up EVERYTHING to be with Pink
  • She believed they would be together forever on Earth because Pink told her they would
  • and what does Pink do?
  • Gives up her form for the love of a human she’s known just a few YEARS.
  • Pearls been lead on to believe that Pink loved her and then to be left alone to help raise Steven

  • The GUILT
  • Pink placed so much on Pearls shoulders
  • Pearl was the one to technically “shatter” Pink
  • everything else that followed, from her perspective, was all her fault
  • All of the other gems that perished in the war
  • and the Gems that were left before the other 3 Diamonds destroyed them ALL in the final blast?  She carried the weight of literally EVERY CRYSTAL GEMS’ DEATH ON HER SHOULDERS.
  • She couldn’t have predicted that’s what was going to happen
  • and then for Pink to leave her for Greg and then make Steven had to have KILLED her inside.
  • Everything she did, she did for her and it was like Pink turned around and told her none of it even mattered.
  • Every animosity she’s had towards Steven and Greg up until this point makes SOOOOO MUCH MORE SENSE NOW.  She was hurt and crushed that the one gem she gave everything up for, promised her they’d be together after it was over, and then left her for a human and then gave it up for Steven instead.  I have a whole new appreciation for Pearl.
  • It was cruel of Pink to make Pearl do so much for her, and then gag her in to secrecy to not tell another soul.  Pearl was promised love for her efforts, and everyone died because of it, and she still wasn’t loved in return by Rose.  No wonder she’s got so many personalities inside that gem of hers.  That’s some seriously messed up trauma that I feel her and Lapis could probably really bond over.

I just.  I have a lot of rewatching to do, now that I know Pearl’s side of the story.  The crystal gems are gonna fall apart after this.  All of their loyalty was to Rose.  They gave up everything THEY had to support Rose’s cause against Pink, and here they’ve been working for Pink all along.  The fall out is gonna be huge and somebody better unbubble Bismuth too because she’s definitely gonna want to put in a few words.

also, seriously, what’s in the trunk in Lion’s mane.  Cuz I was thinkin Pink was in there….but now I GOTTA KNOW

INTERNET COMPANIES MAY ALREADY BE THROTTLING OUR INTERNET

so, the repeal of net neutrality came today…

lovely

I woke up to this.

that error message popped up when I tried to send a picture. So kik is a platform where sending photos has been a thing for a VERY long time

I asked them (the person I was messaging) if they saw my photos.

They seem to be, with no issue, but I’m getting errors with any photos. My Kik is updated and so is theirs.

All of this on the day net neutrality was repealed.

I did some research and this is what I found.

I was not the only one, many people were having these issues, and I looked at a coverage map.

My internet service provider is AT&T

I think this picture speaks for itself.

WELCOME TO THE NEW AGE

On a Parisienne’s Bookshelf

beyondmythoughtssociety:

THERE ARE MANY BOOKS ON A PARISIENNE’S BOOKSHELF:

  • The books you so often claim you’ve read that you actually believe you have.
  • The books you read in school from which you remember only the main character’s name.
  • The art books your parents give you each Christmas so you can get some “culture”.
  • The art books that you bought yourself and which you really love.
  • The books that you’ve been promising yourself you’ll read next summer … for the past ten years.
  • The books you bought only because you liked the title.
  • The books that you think makes you cool.
  • The books you read over and over again, and that evolve along with your life.
  • The books that remind you of someone you loved.
  • The books you keep for your children, just in case you ever have any.
  • The books whose first ten pages you’ve read so many times you know them by heart.
  • The books you own simply because you must and, taken together, form intangible proof that you are well read.

AND THEN THERE ARE THE BOOKS YOU HAVE READ, LOVED, AND WHICH ARE A PART OF YOUR IDENTITY:

  • The Stranger, Albert Camus
  • The Elementary Particles, Michel Houellebecq
  • Belle du Seigneur, Albert Cohen
  • Bonjour Tristesse, Françoise Sagan
  • Madame Bovary, Gustave Flaubert
  • L’Écume des jours, Boris Vian
  • Lolita, Vladimir Nabokov
  • Les Fleurs du Mal, Charles Baudelaire
  • Journey to the End of the Night, Louis-Ferdinand Céline
  • À la recherche du temps perdu, Marcel Proust

Okay so like I said I’m going to document my transition! So its idk day 1? And all I did was decided to transition & shave my face.

Hey if you see this post & you want to help me afford facial feminization surgery so that I’ll be more passable (& therefore more likely to not be murdered on the street) you should consider donating a few bucks to my transition fund! (Or at least signal boosting this so that one of your followers can?)

https://www.gofundme.com/des-transition-fund

You’re so pretty??? What the fuck.????

Thank you so much! The reception of this post has made me reconsider things! So here’s an update for everyone that signal boosted this post and/or donated!

The link is still the same but you all have warmed my heart with the positivity & overall compassion you have shown me! I honestly thought I would get $15 (and thats only cause my friend donated my first $10) I’ve never been happier to be proven wrong! ✨🧘🏾‍♀️🙌🏾🌈

Also if you still wanted to donate it’s never too late! My campaign will be open for at least 6 months starting today! (May 20 2018)

being touchstarved makes u absolutely buckwild when someone does smth simple like .share a chair with u

like having someone touch your hand with the tips of their fingers shouldn’t feel like So Much it shouldn’t feel like your whole body is going into anaphylactic shock but here we are. here we are.

ok 2 many of u relate

Someone gave me a compliment and reached out and squeezed my hand and I fell in love and couldn’t speak for several minutes

I was just gonna type this in the tags but I have to say this.

Growing up in North America is surreal.
Every tiny little blip of physical affection is deemed as sexual interest.
Boys aren’t allowed to hug eachother because “that’s gay.”
Girls can’t hold hands because “are they going out?”
And GOD FORBID a female friend hugs a male friend.

Having lived in the Netherlands, and reading up about shit like this, Canadians and Americans are starving.

I went to Japan for a school trip in 2012. I went to a highschool there.
There were boys hugging, lounging on those blue gym floor mats, holding hands, trowing their arms around eachother.
I was startled by how shocked I was.

This mentality of “if you’re touching you must have sexual interest in the other person” is so fucking disgusting. Hug your friends. Hold hands with them. Touch their hands when you want to reassure them.
