the future is now

are people that lazy to need this

While I’m sure there are people too lazy to spin a fork, keep in mind people like this person who may be suffering from arthritis or a neurological disease or nerve damage or a thousand other conditions that might impair their ability to do things as simple as spin a fork to eat spaghetti.

These are used with people who can’t grip well:

This is for Parkinsons’s:

For people who can’t even bend their joints:

Here’s a product that guides your hand from your plate to your mouth

This one holds a sandwich

Like I get it. I used to see things like the fork and think “that’s fuckin’ lazy” or that product that holds a gallon and you just tip it and pour. But then I started working around the disabled and impaired and found out that these products aren’t meant for lazy people, they’re meant for people who need help.

So maybe next time you see something, instead of thinking “Wow, are people that lazy?” just be grateful that you’re able to do the things you do every day and take for granted, like being able to feed yourself and wipe your own ass because you have enough coordination and bendy joints to do it.

This isn’t specualtion either; the majority of products from commericals that we think are funny or silly are autally MEANT for hte disabled. But they are marketed towards the abled because the disabled aren’t considered a viable enough demographic on their own.

the Snuggie for example? Created for wheelchair users.

This is actually really nifty.

oh my god of course the snuggie was for wheelchair users

The fact that anyone buys these products besides disabled people drastically lowers the price of them. These would normally cost hundreds if not thousands if dollars. Because if spent time and money creating it, the company wants to get more than that back. And they can’t do that if they sell and market these primarily to disabled people for $20-$40 a piece or whatever. They’d lose money on production. If they can sell hundreds of them to everyone, they can lower the price drastically and therefore disabled people don’t die while trying to scrape up the money to buy these things and be a bit more independent.

I never considered that last part and that’s actually genius

Like yeah, a handful of people ARE that lazy.

But those are the people who use these products even though they don’t need them and thus allow the price to be lower for those who DO.

So honestly in this case good bless the lazy and those prone to gimmicks because they are invaluable to the elderly and disabled in this sense.

@thebibliosphere Look! People learning about disability and why to be kind!

The normalization of disability aids needs to be a thing precisely so they can cost less.

Asking a 5 year old to forfeit their rights without a lawyer is insane. It’s inhuman. It is the worst possible scenario.

But for Republicans, it is their policy.

I’m just gonna point out this cannot and should not hold up in a court of law because 1. She doesn’t speak English and 2. She’s 5 years old she’s a minor with no ability to understand what she’s signing 3. she’s a minor and therefor needs a guardian to sign contracts with her she cannot do it on her own as a 5 year old.

how many English speaking 5 year olds could read that???

How many 5-year-olds of any linguistic capacity can hold out against a room full of adult strangers ordering them to put these specific marks on this sheet of paper? Especially if they’re, say, being threatened that they need to do so in order to see their parents again?

hey so I came across this on 4chan, apparently it’s getting review bombed by seething anti-sjws who see this cartoon made for girls as an attack on manhood or some shit. it’s pathetic and I doubt this show deserves that

so yeah, if anyone wants to write some better reviews… I’m not saying you have to write anything good about it, dunk on it if you like, I’m just saying it would be nice if people who actually watched it (I haven’t yet personally) gave it some reviews based on it’s actual merits and flaws

I’ve honestly been expecting this to happen ever since the show was announced. Geek culture is filled to the BRIM with toxic masculinity from guys who spent decades getting picked on. Their anger turns to gatekeeping and they see ANYONE getting into THEIR fandoms as a THREAT that must be stopped. And of course, since geek culture is predominately filled with straight white men, they see any deviation from this “norm” as a threat as well.

If it doesn’t cater to THEM, then it doesn’t deserve to exist as far as they’re concerned. And how DARE women enjoy something without THEIR approval, right?

The fact that these review bombs keep happening to any media that breaks from the stagnating mold, is a blight on geek culture as a whole. We’re BETTER than this. Grow up and let people enjoy stuff. Stop gatekeeping and stop dissing stuff that’s most likely not meant for you. You don’t have to watch it, and you lose nothing by ignoring it.

Seriously though, if any of my fans want to go over there and post some positive reviews, please do so. Try to combat this nonsense if you can.

Bi-monthly Entertainment News!

“How dare She-Ra / Star Wars / Dr. Who star a girl, spit middle-aged losers who immediately and vengefully spend way more time than necessary demonising and trying to destroy the reputation of a piece of fiction not aimed at them primarily”

Rinse, repeat article.

It’s so GOOD, too!

I put in my review- audience score is now up to 63%!

Also, the majority of rude comments are like ‘the original was better’ but have like… y’all seen the original? I mean sure- I ate it up as a kid, but… seriously.

I mean people can enjoy the original for nostalgia but it was nothing but a 30 minute cartoon

I sincerely doubt many of these people actually watched the original. Plenty of them are probably my age and are too young for it. They just want to spit on girl friendly content made by a queer creator because it’s not created with the male geek gaze in mind.

TIL a 30-year-old elephant named Ben sought help at a safari lodge after being shot by poachers. The elephant waited patiently near the lodge for the 6 hours it took for a vet to fly in and dress his 3 bullet wounds.

via ift.tt

The fact he’s named kinda brushes over the fact this is a wild elephant. Born in the wild, raised in the wild, the only human interaction is watching the safaris. And after mean humans shot him, he decided the best course of action was to go visit the nice humans who just take pictures in hopes they’d help him. And then, even though they didn’t help him right away, he trusted that because they continued to be nice, he was safe, and they would help him.

also the people saw an elephant and were like “that’s a ben”

i hope he tells the other elephants where they can get help

@brunhiddensmusings

Actually, they do!

https://www.thedodo.com/elephants-travel-humans-help-1353631970.html

Orphans who were rescued, raised, and released by the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Kenya have communicated that it is a place of safety to other elephants who’ve never even been there.

Injured animals will show up there when they have been harmed by poachers because they know it is a place where they can get help!

i am very glad elephants have a functioning yelp system

“Took a little while to get served the quality of service made up for it. 4/5 stars. Would reccomend”

i took a pic of me watching the pickle rick episode to piss people off but like somehow i managed to take the pic so that the frame on the tv was…. a different frame to the reflection on the desk?

cursed image

this is the most fucked up scenario that accurately depicts that movement of photons through space and time

Einstein would be so upset that you proved his theory in one moment, cause in his day it took fuckin months to setup an eclipse pic to prove relativity n you did it by accident, in ur living room. congrats.
