you ever just sit and realise u can’t remember 80% of your childhood? like … what happened? who am i ..?
Many people in the comments are saying “trauma”, but this is actually a very normal occurrence. It’s called Childhood Amnesia, and it’s a process which, as the brain reorganizes itself for cognitive thought that is developed in late childhood, it changes the Accessibility of those memories during recall. Many childhood memories are available to the person, but they will not be remembered during regular recall activity, you have to “trick” your brain into remembering with different tactics.
This is because there are two parts to memories – their encoding and their recall. The encoding determines their availability, their recall determines their accessibility. The reason why trauma memory and childhood amnesia are different is in this distinction. Trauma memory is often encoded differently, bypassing to the limbic system where it is stored as intrinsic memory. It can’t be recalled because it was never encoded. Childhood amnesia, however, seems to indicate that the memories are encoded, but we lose access to them as we age. This is most likely due to the development of brain structures that fundamentally change our encoding and recall of memory as we get older.
This is an important distinction, because trauma memory is “stored in the body”, i.e. you get triggers that send your body into a cascade of uncontrollable feelings, sensations and reactions. Whereas childhood memories won’t generally do that, they are just recalled at odd times with odd associations.
reblogging this because I’ve legit seen people freaking out when they realised they can’t remember some of their childhood, thinking they might have some repressed trauma.
Can we bring this back? He’s the reason I started carrying knives everywhere… One time he saw me inside of a liquor store and I refused to step outside until he finally left.. AN HOUR LATER. He just stood there waiting for me to leave the store. Ugh. I’m glad I’m across the country from this creep.
Oh he also stopped by my work EVERYDAY to ask me out and EVERYDAY I would say “no thank you” it got to the point that whenever I saw his car pull up I would tell my boss and then go hide in the back room. He honestly terrified me.
Men are fucking terrifying, I once had some random dude stalk me at work because I smiled at him. … something you get in trouble for if you don’t do when in customer service!
what the actual fuck
Everytime a guy tries to describe himself to me as a nice guy and that i shouldn’t be afraid, my warning siren in my head gets louder.
protip, people who are actually nice, don’t usually feel the need to tell everyone how nice they are.
Men feel so entitled sometimes. It’s scary to watch the interactions sometimes.
I love when shitty gatekeeper nerds try to be so specific about their requests that they reveal just how little they themselves know about what they claim to be fans of.
The fact that this guy arbitrarily used a 24 episode cutoff (presumably to cut out long form ‘mainstream’ stuff like naruto) tells me not only has he not seen very many anime but that he’s only gotten into it recently. If you look back at older anime, and by older I mean, like 90s up to the mid 2000s, the standard half season/full season/long season runs for like your regular non-ongoing anime were 13, 26, and 52 episodes. 12/24/48 episode length only became common for more recent anime. By setting the cutoff at 24 and not 26 or even 52, he’s cutting out a good chunk of the classics that any longtime hardcore fan would have on their list. Not to mention cutting out almost every show with more than one season. This guy probably hasn’t watched anything made before 2006.
He’s just like that one guy at Kroger several years back who tried to say I was a fake PC gamer because I didn’t play fuckin league of legends or call of duty, and dismissed me as a casual after he asked my favorites and I told him they were Baldur’s Gate and Morrowind, because he’d never heard of them so clearly I was full of it.

guy fieri’s flagship show is all about him going to underappreciated family-owned restaurants, praising their work and bringing them nationwide positive attention and business. he openly supports lgbt people like his sister and frequently has gay chefs on his grocery games competition, including ones revolving around relationships and family. he donates all of the non-perishable food from grocery games to food banks and advocates for fighting hunger. he goes to parts of the country where natural disasters have hit and hosts big events where he cooks for and feeds the victims. he has a legitimately funny sense of humor on his shows and is generally said to be a really nice person. he loves his son and has done whole television specials about taking him along on trips having once-in-a-lifetime experiences together. he might look goofy but that man does things that nourish the SOUL and u cant put frosted spikes on THAT
I’m glad we got this universe’s Guy Fieri and not the Homestuck one
