Doctor Who has received significant viewer and critical acclaim for an episode, featuring Rosa Parks (Vinette Robinson) that tackled racism and discrimination.
The storyline also did not attempt to influence the event, or in any way inspire Rosa for her actions that day.
Rather, they helped protect the circumstances so that the event did happen.
Not only did the episode highlight racist attitudes in the past, they also highlighted how racism continues today. Ryan (Toisin Cole) talked about being stopped by police and Yaz (Mandip Gill) opened up about being the abuse she has experienced as a Muslim.
They also contextualised Rosa Parks’ story, highlighting the future difficulties she faced and the continued fight for civil rights.
Notably, this was also the first episode in Doctor Who history to have been written by a person of colour.
It was also pointed out that the episode was aired on the same day as a black woman was racially abused and was made to move on an Ryanair flight.
And at the end of the episode, The Doctor highlighted that Rosa Parks not only changed the world but the “universe,” pointing out an asteroid that has been named after her.

“On Friday, Victoria’s secret was out: the international retailer doesn’t support trans or plus-size people. VS’s chief marketing officer and executive vice president of public relations Ed Razek admitted to Vogue that they intentionally don’t have trans or plus-size models on the runway at their event.
“Shouldn’t you have transsexuals in the show? No. No, I don’t think we should,” Razek remarked during the interview. “Well, why not? Because the show is a fantasy.” It may be the fantasy of far-right conservatives that trans people don’t exist, especially after the Trump memo. However, in a country where nearly 3% of teens are trans or gender nonconforming and the average woman is size 16/18, the fantasy is just that — unreal, unnecessary, and exclusionary.
Following a long silence on the clearly anti-trans and anti–plus-size statements, Razek clumsily walked back on the comments: “To be clear, we absolutely would cast a transgender model for the show. We’ve had transgender models come to castings… and like many others, they didn’t make it…But it was never about gender. I admire and respect their journey to embrace who they really are.”

which is all well and good but “we investigated the creepy nursery rhymes, and it turns out it’s spiders” is one hell of a true statement

The alarm was at some kind of industrial building, and is apparently SUPPOSED to play creepy nursery rhymes, to deter criminals from breaking in in the middle of the night! It was just turned up too loud, and too sensitive, so it was being triggered by spiders.
That’s some creative theft-deterrent there. If you’re breaking in to a place, you kind of expect to hear a burglar alarm. You’re prepared for that, and you’re prepared to grab and go once it goes off.
But if you hear a creepy kid’s voice singing nursery rhymes at a seemingly abandoned industrial building in the middle of the night, you’re going to shit your pants and get the fuck out, in that order.
Give the guy who thought that up a promotion.
