If you have played Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, you may remember Luigi’s stories of his travels in the Waffle Kingdom. Have you ever wished to actually see his adventure unfold, rather than merely read about it? If yes, I have a comic for you.

Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass is a webcomic by Supper Mario Broth that intends to retell the story of Luigi’s voyage to the Waffle Kingdom in comic form. Extreme care is taken to reproduce the visual style of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door as closely as possible, while featuring many well-known, lesser-known and original characters.

The seven-page Prologue is already finished – start with the first page here – and updates will be posted both on the comic’s main page, marvelouscompass.tumblr.com, as well as the MarvelousLuigi Twitter account, which will also feature behind-the-scenes materials.

While this might not be the usual Supper Mario Broth content, I hope my readers will understand that this project has been in the works for many years and is very important to me. I hope to be able to deliver a comic that will do Luigi’s story justice, and I take all comments and feedback that I receive to heart.

Thank you very much.

Back when I was a kid playing this for the first time, I had this happen to me on my first attempt of this mission. I remember being COMPLETELY confused, because I hadn’t set off any of the traps in Noki Bay beforehand so it literally came out of nowhere.

And it essentially guarantees your win of the race?? I dunno man, it always felt like such a surreal thing

For anyone who has never seen this, here’s a little clip that shows it! (though I swear when it happened to me I flew much further)

in before nazis twist this around and say we’re being intolerant

I read an interesting article once that said that in a tolerant society, the only way to keep it working was to become intolerant to intolerance if that makes sense.

It’s called the irony of tolerance or something like that. And it was written in the 1940’s. Give you one guess as to what inspired that article.

always say “fuck right off” to fascism

Tolerance is a peace treaty, not a personal virtue.
