https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/6054/text?format=txt

this CANNOT pass. oh hell no. –> (202)-224-3121

What about when Nazis intimidate or oppress me for walking while Jewish? That’s just free speech, right?

This was introduced by Daniel Donovan (R-NY). If the name sounds familiar, its because he’s the attorney who failed to indict Eric Garner’s murderer. It’s very clear where his loyalties lie.

7308 13th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11228 (office address)

(718) 630-5277 (office phone number)

I’m sure we can all very civily share our concerns with the esteemed congressman.

[ID: a series of tweets.
from Lirael Lowenstein –
1: “Unmasking Antifa Act introduced to house of congress. You could get a maximum of 15 years in prison just for wearing a mask at a protest.
2: Notably, there is not even evidence that said bill is intended to be applied neutrally. If you follow the link, its authors refer to it as the “Unmasking Antifa Act of 2018.” (link here.)
3: So under this bill, if you “intimidate” or “oppress” (talk about vague terms) a nazi organizer at a rally, while wearing anything that could be construed as a disguise or mask, it would be a federal crime for which you could get up to 15 years in prison.

from Heather –
1: If any journalist who covers protests thinks this wouldn’t affect them personally because they’ve never assaulted anyone, I’d like to introduce you to the Ferguson police who dumped me out of my wheelchair & charged me for “assault on an officer” for filming on a public sidewalk.
2: If any journalist thinks this wouldn’t affect them personally because they don’t engage in vandalism, I’d like to introduce you to the St Louis police who kettle random groups of protesters, journalists, & bystanders three hours after minor vandalism several blocks away.

more sources, all dated today; july 10th, 2018: xx, xx, xx

so what? why should i care about this?

  • the bill is vague, for one thing. “intimidate” and “oppress” are very unclear descriptors, meaning people could be put in jail for upwards of 15 years just for being at a protest wearing a mask.
  • as @sylviahook pointed out (and thank you for saying this in your own reblog): this also affects disabled people who need to wear filtration masks in public for any reason
    • (environmental allergens including pollen and artificial scents, asthma due to pollution, compromised immunity, etc.).

who is Daniel Donovan?

  • he was the attorney who was on Eric Garner’s murder case.
    • eric garner was a black man who was killed by a police officer in a choke hold. his last words were “i can’t breathe,” which became a tagline for a series of protests. (source 1, source 2)
  • he is currently sponsoring the unmasking antifa act. (source 1, source 2)

Deregulation will get you killed. Republican policies make your life worse.

Let’s be really clear that these aren’t farmers in the sense you normally think of. These aren’t oldish guys wearing overalls and women with weathered hands. These aren’t families with kids who come home from school and help with chores of day to day farm life.

These are corporations. Corporate Farms.

It’s known as Big Agribusiness. And it’s been destroying family farms for decades, consolidating ownership of the food supply, and forcing people off their homes and into tighter living spaces in the city.

so in 2007, there was a law passed that said if you have student loans
and you worked in public services & made student loan payments on time
for 10 years, you’d get loan forgiveness. fast forward to 2017, and guess what happens under this admin with Betsy Devos?

out of 30,000 public service applicants, the Devos/Trump team only forgave the loans of 96 people. imagine 10 years ago deciding to work in public service with shitty pay to pay off loans the govt promised they would and then 99% of applications get rejected. thats absolutely despicable. wtf.

couldn’t post the links since this website is hell and won’t let it show up in searches anymore, but here’s the links. apparently there IS a class-action lawsuit going, and here’s a link to a petition being done by the same union who filed the lawsuit (it’s at the bottom). not sure how much it’s helpful but it’s worth a shot i guess

here’s a link to the article

Reblogging for anyone who needs to file a class-action lawsuit or join a petition.

Yes! Thank you for this great vid. Please pay attention people!!!

2019 is gonna be a shit show

WHAT THE FUCK!?!?!?!? WHAT THE FUCK??????? WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!!! WHAT THE FUCK?!?!?!?!? WHAT???? THE!!!!!! FUCK???????

um exCUSE YOU ME? NANI THE FUCKK? some of us would still like to live in this country without it being a dystopia thank you very much. but someone went hahahaha… no.

This is why you get off your ass and vote.

2018 is the fucking year… Grab Em By The Midterms. If we get someone in Congress who will stand up against these assholes, we can veto this shit with a vote, executive order or not. Contrary to popular belief the President does not have all the power. Sure he can veto a bill but Congress can veto executive orders with 2/3 majority votes. Not only that they can vote out the current Speaker of the House and with the aid of a good Senate and  House of Representatives, draw up articles of impeachment and get that fucking asshole who dares to call himself a president out of there.

So if you don’t want this shit to happen, talk to people and share this video with everyone! Let them know the shit that Trump and his buddies are doing and lets nip that shit in the bud.

This is such a big mood. Speaking as a full-time graduate student in the metro DC area, I don’t blame her for waiting. The cost of living here is grotesque.

stfu, this bitch just another LARPing liberal

Like most models, Ocasio-Cortez did not buy the outfit shown here – she rented it for a photo shoot. Also, the clothes come from an environmentally-conscious fashion line, the designers of which are sensible to her political platform.

I see why you omitted these details – sexism is more catchy when you neglect the whole story

Period

G*d people really acting like a bartender with student debt showed up to a photoshoot with a $10,000 wardrobe in tow. That’s not how any of this works.

Sidenote:

Don’t let anyone forget the fact that the President of the United States skipped out on visiting military graves for Armistice Day’s 100th anniversary.

Because of rain.

He has golfed in the rain. He was inaugurated in the rain. Other leaders–and his own subordinates–made it out there in the rain.

President Trump, though? The man who loves our troops and our country? Yeah, it’s weird that he didn’t go to the ceremony and chose to stay in his hotel room. He left our country on Veteran’s Day weekend to visit Paris for the reunion, but could not be bothered to face a little rain in order to pay his respects to the troops.

He forgets the names of the fallen. He cuts funding for veteran welfare programs. He sends our soldiers to the border for needless exercises in intimidation. Then he claims that others are weak on the military and don’t respect our troops?

What a joke.

Oh, and when I say “don’t let them forget”, I mean “every time some alt-right nutjob comes at you, hit them with that question”.

Also, if you need to cite facts:

An hour. This isn’t a “scheduling thing”, this is something that should have been planned. At the least, the President doesn’t have staff who know how to plan a trip.

The thing is, this drags military respect into the conflict.

If you want bonus points, remind them of the time Hillary got pneumonia from attending a 9/11 memorial.

Never trust someone who fetishizes the military in one breath and spits on veterans in the next; just saying.

“The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.”
-Orwell, 1984

Normally, I feel like people are way too liberal in calling things “Orwellian”, because I’ve seen people claim everything from speed limits to environmental laws to privately owned security cameras in stores as being “Orwellian”, but Trump, in this instance, is utterly Orwellian.
