Things I Love About Youth Talk:

• Capitalization to emphasize A Word Or Phrase
• The use of ™ to show Importance™
• Commas,,, used as,,, an ellipsis,,,,
• ran dom s p aci ng to show a choked or strangled sort of tone
• Cut-offs mid sentence
• saying that they love something, or that something is doing its best, even if it’s an inanimate object
• Dramatizing every sentence (instead of saying “Oh, she’s pretty!” One would say “U would let her kill me and say thank you.”)
• random capitalization in the middle of a sentENCE TO EMPHASIZE A RISING, MORE EMOTIONAL TONE
• vague one word answers in response to a picture
• Mood/same/me
• Jokes where the only way to understand it is if you’ve seen two other vines, a tweet, and four Tumblr posts from 2012
• Noticing details about a freaky picture and acting like it’s completely normal
• The opposite: seeing a stupid picture and losing it in response

call me ignorant but i genuinely don’t understand why sports have to be split up by gender.

@ everyone in the notes talking about physical performance: if that were the case, then sports would be divided by physical performance. that’s a thing you can measure. that’s a thing that varies by individual. a weak man and a strong man would be an unfair fight in boxing/wrestling/MMA, which is why they divide those sports up into weight groups based on physical performance. but they also further segregate them based on gender. chess is segregated by gender for no reason but sexism. if it’s actually about skill and physical ability, then measure those and separate people by those metrics. don’t do some bullshit gender segregation and pretend like men and women are inherently on different levels no matter their individual abilities.

💅

Remember that time a teenage girl struck out Babe Ruth? That’s fucking why. Men are afraid of being beaten by women.

Remember that time male swimmers were pulled out of training because Kate Ledecky was leaving them ‘broken’ by swimming better than them? Remember how she didn’t even notice, because she was busy actually training?

Shooting is a sport that has no reliance on strength and so any allowance for gender variation is irrelevant.

The last time there was a mixed competition (1992) a chinese woman named Zhang Shan won it.

It’s often presented as for the benefit of women. After all, they’ll be heartbroken when they‘re hurt or bested by men.

Projection is a hell of a drug.

taika destroying mjolnir in the first few scenes of ragnarok was one of the best decisions in the movie simply bc mjolnir measured worthiness and for many people that meant that mjolnir was what made thor special, that if it weren’t for mjolnir hed be a nobody

and i loved that he destroyed it bc it proved that isnt true. thor will always be a hero, with or without mjolnir and even though the hammer proved thor has a heart of gold, he doesn’t need it and is even more powerful without it

alcohol culture is so wild…people all over fb will be sharing a meme like “i can’t have just one glass of wine, it’s always 2 bottles and 3 people i can never look in the eye again” as if that’s normal? but if a meme like that was going around about cocaine or any other drug, everyone would be like “sounds like a drug problem bruh”

alcoholism is SO normalized and it’s such a toxic environment honestly

This article is a fascinating and horrifying observation of alcohol culture in present-day America – especially in the context of women and the “wine mom” attitude seen on Facebook in particular. It’s one of the most eye-opening things I’ve ever read, tbh.
