Welp, I can throw out this theory, and this one, and this one too. I got a little warmer with this one. I entertained the idea that Rose was in fact Pink herself, but THAT WHOLE SET UP???? WOOOOOW!
But this recent mini bomb just flipped everything I felt about Pearl on it’s head?? I mean, I feel like I need to go back and rewatch the entire series just to watch it from the perspective of Pearl! Can you imagine what she’s been going through? For MILLENNIA?!?
She had so much love and loyalty to her Diamond
The fact she even had to PRETEND to shatter the literal center of her universe had to have killed her inside
she gave up EVERYTHING to be with Pink
She believed they would be together forever on Earth because Pink told her they would
and what does Pink do?
Gives up her form for the love of a human she’s known just a few YEARS.
Pearls been lead on to believe that Pink loved her and then to be left alone to help raise Steven
The GUILT
Pink placed so much on Pearls shoulders
Pearl was the one to technically “shatter” Pink
everything else that followed, from her perspective, was all her fault
All of the other gems that perished in the war
and the Gems that were left before the other 3 Diamonds destroyed them ALL in the final blast? She carried the weight of literally EVERY CRYSTAL GEMS’ DEATH ON HER SHOULDERS.
She couldn’t have predicted that’s what was going to happen
and then for Pink to leave her for Greg and then make Steven had to have KILLED her inside.
Everything she did, she did for her and it was like Pink turned around and told her none of it even mattered.
Every animosity she’s had towards Steven and Greg up until this point makes SOOOOO MUCH MORE SENSE NOW. She was hurt and crushed that the one gem she gave everything up for, promised her they’d be together after it was over, and then left her for a human and then gave it up for Steven instead. I have a whole new appreciation for Pearl.
It was cruel of Pink to make Pearl do so much for her, and then gag her in to secrecy to not tell another soul. Pearl was promised love for her efforts, and everyone died because of it, and she still wasn’t loved in return by Rose. No wonder she’s got so many personalities inside that gem of hers. That’s some seriously messed up trauma that I feel her and Lapis could probably really bond over.
I just. I have a lot of rewatching to do, now that I know Pearl’s side of the story. The crystal gems are gonna fall apart after this. All of their loyalty was to Rose. They gave up everything THEY had to support Rose’s cause against Pink, and here they’ve been working for Pink all along. The fall out is gonna be huge and somebody better unbubble Bismuth too because she’s definitely gonna want to put in a few words.
also, seriously, what’s in the trunk in Lion’s mane. Cuz I was thinkin Pink was in there….but now I GOTTA KNOW
