I know you’re probably tired of hearing about the theory that White Diamonds Pearl and The CG Pearl are switched, but I just found this.
Pearl bleaching is a very delicate process that few workers know and using the wrong type of bleach or overbleaching can lead to the pearl becoming brittle and prone to cracks.
If I know Rebecca Sugar by now, I dont think they’d pass up a chance to foreshadow using gem knowledge.
pearl is smiling, here, because there are no negative possibilities about who’s coming through that door. either it’s ruby and company, in which case things are about to get better; it’s connie, in which case connie; or it’s ronaldo, in which case she gets to practice her leaping tornado suplex on her favorite training dummy and ronaldo gets to practice not drowning
Many theorize that the White (creepy) Pearl, who find in the last ep. of SU, is the original Pink Pearl for Pink Diamond, but, after the death of her, she was “adjusted” by White Diamond to become his personal puppet.
I like to think that in its original form it was with disordered hair like Pink Diamond and that only later had a more “tidy” hair style
At first I was a little bothered by how unevenly split the Diamond’s ships are with Pink having an entire lower half, white having a torso and head, while Blue and Yellow just have arms. But thinking on it I think it’s actually a clever way of showing different types of thinking.

Uh….Steven Universe OC??? I don’t have many of these tbh ^^;
Whether it happens in canon or not, I love the concept of Steven getting dragged back to Homeworld to fulfill his role as a Diamond and utterly failing at it! And part of Blue and Yellow’s attempt to get him back into being a Diamond is to give him a new, non defective Pearl who’s so committed to Homeworld’s system that she won’t rebel or allow Steven to start a rebellion. Her problem obviously being that she can’t buck the system or her intended purpose but her purpose is to do what her Diamond wants and to make him happy, but he wants her to be her own person…it’s a headache for both of them.
Design wise, I just wanted to have a Pearl with similar hair to Anthy from Revolutionary Girl Utena since there’s plenty of parallels I could draw between Pearls and their purpose and Anthy’s role as the Rose Bride. Pink Pearl’s outfit looks a little too Era 1 for her to be a new gem but the idea was that Blue and Yellow (mostly Blue) wanted to cling to the past essence of Pink Diamond, hence why Pinky here has a similar outfit to PD.
I dunno if I’ll do anything with this character but she was fun to create and I like drawing her so we’ll see 🙂
