a concept: Harry Potter with his mother’s hair and father’s eyes instead of vice versa.
Harry with fiery dark red hair and soft hazel eyes please and thank you

i imagine this is how harry and draco’s first meeting would have gone then haha

can you imagine how much more confused arthur would have been in that scene where he first meets harry 😂

his eyes would probably sweep right over harry at the breakfast table, and then he would freeze and have to do a mental tally of his children

I can see Fred and George really going with it too…

“Come on Dad, don’t you remember Harry?”
“Next you’ll tell us you don’t remember Craig”
“Or Ethel”
“Or Annie“
“Or Ryan”

This reminds me of a party I went to last year. I was standing with some friends, chatting, and someone said something that indirectly implied that sexism exists. Some trivial recounting of the basic facts of daily life for most women. Something so mild, so uncontroversial, so mundane that I don’t even remember what it was.

Suddenly, this man standing on the outskirts of our conversational circle piped up with “actually, I think men are more discriminated against than women these days.”

 All conversation died.

I turned to look at him and he had this smug, insufferable grin on his face, relishing this moment, expecting us to waste our time and energy refuting this ridiculous thing he had just said.

The Devil’s Advocate was among us.

And, in my mind, I saw the next 15+ minutes playing out. The parade of facts and statistics in a vain attempt to defend ourselves, our gender, and to prove that misogyny is real. The glib, snide denials from some shithead who is getting off on our pain and frustration. The Gish Gallop of bullshit that would take a whole evening to properly dismantle. It was depressing and overwhelming. I hated it. I had to kill it before it began.

So I looked him dead in the eye and I said “OK,“ shrugged, and just walked away.

Nothing I have ever said to another human being has ever been so crushing. As I walked away, I watched the smug grin vanish and confusion and anxiety set in. The rest of the group turned their backs to him and carried on as if he had never spoken – as if he was invisible. He was still staring at me when I walked over to another friend and told her what he had said. I pointed him out for her and made direct eye contact with him while we both laughed.

tl;dr: Don’t feed the troll. Let it perish, cold and hungry, in the wasteland of your indifference. It is weak and you are strong. Live your best life.

yknow 1 of the little things i appreciate about kid icarus is how realistically pit’s outfit accommodates his wings

But the real question is how does he get his spandex top on over his wings

here’s a little drawing i made hopefully explaining it:

Even better question: How does he get out of it again. 8D

alright, well i’ve seen a few people asking this, so i’m back again (this time on my main blog) to try to explain it:

i hope this clears anything up!

Apple Is Deleting Bought Films From iTunes Accounts – And Don’t Expect A Refund

kodachromism:

dr-archeville:

You know how some people like to say that
physical media is dead and streaming is the future?  Well, Apple is
doing a pretty good job right now of proving that theory well and truly
wrong.

Reports have started to emerge of Apple completely deleting films
from iTunes accounts even when they’ve been bought, not merely rented.
And when people complain about this, they’re receiving an astonishing
message from Apple telling them that iTunes is just a “store front,” and
so Apple isn’t to blame if a film studio decides it no longer wants to
make its titles available on iTunes.

Even worse, it seems that if bought film titles are removed from your
account you may not even be entitled to get a refund for them.  When an
iTunes user in Canada complained to Apple that their initial offer of a
free $5.99 rental hardly seemed suitable recompense for him having three
bought films summarily removed from his account, Apple replied that
“our ability to offer refunds diminishes over time.  Hence your purchases
doesn’t meet the conditions for a refund.”

The Canadian user was offered a further two free rentals as
compensation.  But, of course, as well as being far less in monetary
terms than the films user had bought, having short-term rental rights to
a film is very different indeed from owning a film.

While I’m hearing from others who fortunately did get a refund for
their deleted films, the bottom line in all this is that Apple appears
to be openly saying that if you buy a film on iTunes, you don’t really
own it at all.  It may only stick around in your iTunes account for as
long as the studio who really owns it decides it wants it to stick
around in your iTunes account.

The Canadian user suffering this issue was pointed to this page of Apple legalese in the response where he was told that he wasn’t entitled to compensation for his lost purchases.

I’m also starting to receive reports today of the recent return of
another major issue with iTunes movies: the downgrading of 4K HDR films
to HD.  This started happening in 2017, just after the Apple TV 4K
launched, as reported here.
At that point Apple suggested that there was some sort of labeling
issue (where films said they were HD on their header page, but played as
4K) that they managed to (largely) fix.  And it seems that the return of
this issue may still be responsible for some of the “lost” 4K movies
Apple TV 4K users are seeing now.

This doesn’t seem to explain all of the 4K to HD switches, though.  It seems that some are down to Apple’s
original policy of offering free HD to 4K upgrades of films no longer
applying to titles bought in HD outside of iTunes.  Say, via the
iTunes-compatible Movies Anywhere platform.  Though I am recently hearing
from people saying that films bought on other iTunes-compatible
platforms in 4K are also now only appearing in HD on iTunes.

In fact, I have even been contacted just today by an iTunes user who
tells me that dozens of films he owns in iTunes — many of which were
actually bought in iTunes — have stepped back on his Apple TV 4K to HD,
having previously being available in 4K.  This includes titles that are
still available in 4K on VUDU.

It’s worth noting that the specific incident of films being
completely deleted I refer to in this article happened in Canada; it’s
possible that iTunes users in the U.S. and elsewhere haven’t experienced
the same issue (yet…) due to differences in film rights between
different territories.

But actually these sorts of regional rights differences merely
underline the fundamental point Apple seems to be doing its best to
confirm right now: That the only way you can be sure you own anything is
if you’re physically holding it in your hand.

I’ve asked Apple for comment on these iTunes issues, and will provide
an update if they come back with anything worth sharing.  In the
meantime, though, if you’ve experienced either films you bought
disappearing entirely from iTunes, or films that once appeared in 4K now
only appearing in HD, please let me know (with details, if possible, of
whether you bought the title from within iTunes or via another
compatible platform) via the Twitter account shown at the bottom of this
article.

You don’t own anything that has DRM – not movies, not ebooks, nothing.

omni-dudes:

I have no doubt that Millie Bobby Brown doesn’t see anything wrong with her friendship with Drake, and because of that I get why she has come out to defend him. However. We need to remember that as poised and wordly-wise as she may come across, Brown is still a girl of fourteen and likely has not grasped exactly why the world has reacted with raised eyebrows to her revelation that a 31 year old man texts her saying that he misses her.

Her statements do not and should not exonerate Drake. A 31 year old man has no reason to be texting such personal things to a 14 year old girl outside of a familial relationship (and even then…..best not to) and he is the one who needs to come out and make a statement explaining this away. But he won’t. Too busy with his recently turned 18 girlfriend.

Ok real talk: I do not understand why the internet is still convinced Drake is dating this model. As far as I have seen, she went on Instagram to speak up, reiterating again that she is not dating Drake, and was not in the city at the time the photo was taken of him and the woman in that restaurant — she was at work for fashion week in NYC. The picture of them together where she is in the black scoop neck and him in the suit jacket is an old photograph. I don’t know about you all, but when a woman comes forward to correct you about her private life, I think you should believe her. Go ahead and @ me if there’s updated info I’m missing, but as far as I’ve seen, we should leave Bella Harris out of it.

Now, onto MBB and Drake: there is no reason why any adult man needs to be discussing boys with a fourteen year old child except to be telling her in person to ignore them and keep on her grind. Idk about y’all but I wasn’t even allowed to date at 14 and if my mother had found grown ass men on my phone i’m pretty sure she would have crushed it w/ the car tire. Why Drake himself doesn’t feel inappropriate texting her is the real issue here, not necessarily what MBB thinks about it. She’s not qualified to evaluate these situations, hence, why age-of-consent laws exist.

Further note: our society tended to treat this as OK, up until very recently. We have a deep history of sexualizing preteens and teenagers. Thirteen y/o Britney Spears was in bandos; TV shows cast sexually mature, fully grown twenty-somethings to play high school freshmen. When it’s girls in real life, we can somewhat agree that these situations are strange. But for some reason as soon as a girl is a celebrity, if she’s over the age of 13 she’s treated like an adult. Which leads into the larger problem of our social conception of celebrities as these sort of ethereal entities, forgetting, of course, that they are regular people who happen to live in the public eye.

There’s a lot mixed up in this situation. The smallest consolation, of course, is that we’re living in a time where people are willing to talk about it.

househunting:

Hi househunting, this is not a house but it’s related to old people who often live in cool old houses i know it’s a reach please deal with me and hear me out for two seconds.

I saw this gif on reddit and at first I thought it was cute but then it made me sad. Something as simple as a complimentary piece of cake on her birthday made this lady so happy. I started googling senior citizen statistics and found that 1/3 of US senior citizens live alone, and more than half of them are women. More than one in five elderly people in the US are “elder orphans” – old people without any family at all. That breaks my fucking heart !!!!!!!!! Imagine that everyone you know is dead or gone, you don’t use technology so you can’t connect via the internet with anyone else, and you have health problems so you cannot get out to do social things in public, even shopping. It would be so painfully isolating.

Old people are actually the best (if they aren’t the asshole racist kind). They have great stories, cool antiques, and probably have better hobbies than you. When I was in preschool we used to make holiday gifts and walk to the nursing home and sing the old people songs and give them gifts and it made them so happy. I really wanted to get involved and do something about feeling so shitty about this so I just signed up to volunteer with Full Life Care here in Seattle, an organization that pairs a young person with an elder orphan to hang out with them, help them with errands, and give them gifts throughout the year.  I encourage you to do the same!!!! Google things like “adopt a senior citizen” or “elderly partner program” to find one in your area. I think this is a great way to volunteer and help someone who really needs it!!

The time commitment is LOW – just a couple hours a month. The one in Seattle just asks for 2-3 short visits a month – I’m sure most people can spare an hour or less a week. I look forward to hearing your stories if you do this!
