The day people learn that MCU Howard Stark is not the Howard from the comics and that he is actually a good person I swear I’ll throw a fucking party.

What is good about a father who never tells his son he loves him or even likes him? It screams emotional abuse–and that’s ignoring even all the scenes of Tony venting about how much Howard would talk about Captain America to Tony’s face. (It’s implied Howard would compare Tony to Cap and never favorably.)
Howard’s drunken message to Tony on the Stark Expo gag reel doesn’t mean squat because he never said anything to Tony’s face. Even then, on that video, he called Tony his “creation,” which relegates Tony to more of an object in Howard’s eyes than a living, breathing human being. Tony’s existence was all about Howard’s own ego.
In the MCU tie-in comic Iron Man 2: Public Identity (which is considered MCU canon), Howard was physically and verbally abusive to Tony. Tony’s relationship with Howard was so terrible, he was a kid begging to go back to school during his summer break–just to get away from him.
So, no. Howard Stark was not a good person. At all. He was an abusive sack of shit who whittled away at Tony’s spirit since birth. So much of Tony’s behavior today stems from this abject emotional neglect.
The real nail in the coffin with Howard stark is how Tony talked about him in homecoming. He wants to “break the cycle of shame” by doing the one thing his father never gave him; positive reinforcement. Jesus Christ Howard stark can die again

my family has a history of hypothyroidism, but my mom wasnt diagnosed for decades. she was misdiagnosed and only symptoms were addressed without searching for the actual reason. even now, because how how long she went untreated, her bodys systems are extremely taxed, causing other issues. her body is permanently off the deep end to some degree because doctors refused to investigate to a proper degree.
if you have consistent symptoms, keep pushing. the doctor is not always right. keep pushing.

I was in and out of hospitals for 20 years and the doctors said it was asthma and a lot of stress and being over weight. Went to a new doctor for the first time this summer and he sees all my blood results and was shocked that no one looked into my high WBC count. Turns out I have a rare blood disease, that untreated can be fatal.
It’s ridiculous that doctors see female health problems as just “female problems” and not real concerns

Earlier this year, I had a severe allergic reaction to Penicillin. My throat began to close up, and my body was convulsing so badly that when the paramedics finally got to my home it took two of them to hold down my arm just to check my pulse.
The entire time they were here (as far as I can recall, at least) and in the ER itself, it was insisted repeatedly that what I was experiencing was just an anxiety attack, just an anxiety attack. Do I have a history of anxiety? Clearly I’m *not* having an allergic reaction, even though my family has a history of Penicillin-based allergies! It must just be a woman having a “fit”.
It’s a bit hard to insist that, no, I know what an anxiety attack is because I have experienced plenty before and this is *not* one when you’re so out of it that the only thing you can open your mouth up for is to puke half your guts out, but I did. So did my mom, much more vocally, and *finally* hours later we got the nurse practitioner to listen to us.
I was tested to see if I have a Penicillin allergy, and guess what? I do.
Tl;Dr, being female or female-presenting in this society is basically a fucking death certificate if you ever need medical assistance. Don’t be afraid to insist. Push, and push for those you love, too. The embarrassment of making “a scene” is nothing compared to the alternative.
Ok so you know how sometimes evolution, and particularly sexual selection, leads to some really over-the-top traits in males? Like how male birds of paradise develop ridiculous plumage for mating that makes them more visible to predators and hinders their flying ability? Well, let me introduce you to Mesoplodon layardii, the strap-toothed whale.
Yes, those are tusks growing out of the male’s lower jaw. Tusks that can grow up to a foot in length, and curve back and over the jaw, eventually preventing the male from opening his jaw by about 50%.
The tusks aren’t used for feeding (they primarily eat squid, so no teeth necessary), but instead are used for fighting, similar to a narwhal’s tusks. Does it seem practical to partially fuse your jaw shut, severely limiting the variety of prey you can pursue, in order to fight for mates? No. Seems like really bad idea to me. But what do I know? I’m not a strap-toothed whale.
These whales are super rare to see (they live in the Southern Ocean around Antarctica), so there’s still a lot we don’t know about them. And their weird teeth is only one of the unusual things about them (they also have unusual countershading where they’re darker on the bottom and lighter on the top, unlike pretty much every other animal in the ocean). Anyways, I just found out this whale existed and I was fascinated. Hope you enjoy!
