To expand on this, Jesus’s name is Anglicized in this way as well. We get Jesus from the Latin form of the Greek “Ἰησοῦς”(Iēsous), which is derived from the Herbrew “ישוע”(Yeshu’a, which meant “YHWH is Salvaion”, YHWH, or Yahweh being the name of God). When another form of that name, ” יְהוֹשֻׁעַ”(Yeoshu’a) was allowed to Anglicize through a different set of corruptions, it entered the English Language through Reformist Protestants as the name “Joshua”.
Hi! A Zine I edited/illustrated/contributed to just came out. It’s a spin off frm an online magazine of the same name my friend runs, featuring essays by women about film and visual culture, including topics like Gendering Cyborgs, reclaiming Millennial Pink, ordeal cinema and mental health in horror
Digital copies start at £1 (GBP) with options to donate more, if you’d like! 50% of profits will go to local housing charity Changing Lives, who work w homeless youth, DV survivors and they’ve have been heavily involved in working w survivors of sex trafficking rings – so it goes to a rlly good cause! And a good zine!
I did the first lot of donations from this the other week! Thanks to everyone who bought the zine, we were able to donate about £20!
£11 pays for a week’s worth of meals for service users, so that’s rlly great!!
the other 50% of the profits are basically My Pay for making this, so you also paid for like a week’s worth of meals for me. So thanks for helping to keep the lights on over here 🤗
That is the best description of Steve I have ever seen
I was always so confused about if Joss Whedon had seen The First Avenger. Because Steve swears in the movie. Not like hard, its a PG-13 family movie, but he does swear.
I think Joss Whedon falls into the same trap as bad fic writer, where he thinks Steve is a farmer from 1950s Kansas instead of Irish Catholic kid from 1920s Brooklyn.
Steve Rogers is 400 pounds of righteous kickass in a 100 pound body and by using the serum the army found room for only most of it.
he thinks Steve is a farmer from 1950s Kansas instead of Irish Catholic kid from 1920s Brooklyn.
this is it. this is the description for how steve is so often mischaracterized.
Those people obviously don’t realize the extremely high kill rate for cats at shelters, not to mention that people literally dump indoor cats outside when they don’t want them anymore, and indoor cats often die due to starvation/predators (duh they have no survival skills).
Also – I might also be crying.
Jackson Galaxy is awesome. His story is is that he used to be a drug addict, and that while he was in the beginning of his recovery he saved a stray cat and nursed it back to life, and in return the cat essentially did the same for him, and ever since then, he’s taught himself everything there is to know about cats and their behavior. Cats saved his life, so he’s saving cats lives. He’s awesome.
His show has taught me more about how to take care of a cat than I learned from growing up with one.
Jackson Galaxy is the patron fucking saint of cats and I swear to god I will fight anybody coming for him.
also i thought of a mini theory on how White pearl got her crack while i was making this. It also goes hand in hand with White Pearl was actually Pink’s theory.
So…. What if white pearl(aka Pink Pearl)’s crack was caused by Pink during one of her tantrums (like how she punched the window in the flashback) and like White, being the gracious goddess of infinite patience for the lil shit gave Pink her pearl (our Pearl) to both keep and eye on her and basically teach her some manners and sit her the fuck down.
